Kenji Furutate is coming to Geneva, NY in mid-October!!!

I am so glad that Taikonnection can host Kenji, who is a long-time friend of mine.

Kenji is one of the most notable young Taiko drummer in Japan. He started his professional career as a founding member of GONNA in Nagoya, Japan. In 2006, he became independent and has been a solo Taiko drummer since then.

His Taiko is very powerful, dynamic, and groovy.





He is eager to collaborate with artists from all genre. His trio project DTT is a combination of drum sets, tap dancing and Taiko drumming.





Kenji is also one of charismatic instructors in Taiko school in Japan. He has taught hundreds of students throughout Japan and also in the US and New Zealand.

For beginners/newbies

  Oct 16 Fri 5:30 ~ 7:00PM
  Oct 17 SAT 1:00 ~ 2:30PM

Each session (1.5hr) can hold 6 people. Each person will have a chance to play the authentic Japanese drums all the time. We will teach you how to grip the "Bachi" sticks, how to take a stance and how to play basic Japanese Taiko rhythms.

  $15/person


For intermediate/experienced drummers

   October 18th 9AM-12PM

This 3 hr session gives you a chance to attack your technical challenge. Kenji will identify each participants weakness and tailor the workshop in a way that everybody solves the problem by the end of time. He will also teach you a set of physical training he regularly exercises.

If you have some experiences in drums sets or percussion, you can participate this session.

  $30 per person
